August 26, 2005 - Iowa Outstanding Older Worker Leonard Daman

Diedrichs employee Leonard Daman was recognized as one of Iowa's Outstanding Older Workers at a banquet in Des Moines.  This award recognizes Leonard's continual dedication and contribution to Iowa's workforce and his local community.  He has worked as a consultant at Diedrichs since 1995.  Read more about Leonard's outstanding work history and the Iowa Outstanding Older Worker award.

28, 2005 - ASABE Name Change

The American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) has announced that it has changed its name to the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE).  The name change recognizes the link between agriculture and biology.  Download the ASABE Name Change News Release to learn more.

10-18, 2005 - Man of La Mancha Theatre Show

Diedrichs is sponsoring the play Man of La Mancha at the Oster Regent Theater in Cedar Falls, featuring Gary Kroeger as the lead male role.

2-5, 2005 - ASAE 1/4 Scale Tractor Competition

This year marked the 8th annual ASAE International 1/4 Scale Tractor Student Design Competition held at the Quad City Downs in East Moline, Illinois.  This competition is designed as a fun way to provide hands-on engineering experience to students around the world.  Diedrichs employee and ASAE member Jill Huenink served as part of the 2005 judging committee and, during her undergraduate career, participated on the University of Wisconsin-Madison team.  See our 1/4 Scale Tractor Competition page for pictures, links to final results, and more information about the competition.

May 2-4, 2005 - Agricultural Machinery Conference

We hosted an exhibit at the 20th Annual AMC at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The conference theme focused on "Expanding the Horizons of Product Development" and was sponsored by the ASAE Iowa & Quad City Sections and SAE Mississippi Valley Section.  This gave us a chance to learn about new trends in the machinery industry, meet prospective clients and catch up with friends.

November/December 2004 - Polymer Injection Machine in the News

An article about the M-216 Polymer Injection Machine was featured in two agricultural magazines:  Seed & Crop Digest and Implement & Tractor Magazine.  The machine was also highlighted in the November 4 issue of Farm Journal.

December 3-12, 2004 - Cheaper By The Dozen Theatre Show

Diedrichs is sponsoring the play Cheaper By The Dozen at the Oster Regent Theater in Cedar Falls.  Learn more about this play.  Also, download information about the Cheaper By The Dozen Essay Contest for middle school/junior high students being sponsored by Diedrichs and the Society of Women Engineers.

August 31-September 2, 2004 - Farm Progress Show

Diedrichs, along with client American Soil Technologies, Inc., took part in this year's Farm Progress Show in Alleman, Iowa.  Representatives explained the applications of polymers in agriculture, horticulture, and lawn care to show attendees from around the world.  Visit the Farm Progress Show page to view pictures and read an article that the Des Moines Register published about this event.

August 8, 2004 - Polymer Injection Machine In ASAE Resource

The M-216 Polymer Injection Machine was featured in the August 2004 Resource MagazineResource is published by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) a non-profit society for engineering in agriculture, food, and biological systems.  The publication is dedicated to sharing information about engineering and technology for a sustainable world.  You can download the article "Polymer Injection Machine: M-216 designed to inject liquid polymer into existing turf" (*.pdf file) written by Jill A. June 26, 2004 - Local Parades

During this summer's local celebrations, Diedrichs donated use of their truck and trailer to the University of Northern Iowa Museums for their parade floats.  View pictures from My Waterloo Days and the Sturgis Falls Parades.

3-6, 2004 - ASAE 1/4 Scale Tractor Competition

This year marked the seventh annual ASAE 1/4 Scale Tractor Student Design Competition held at the Quad City Downs in East Moline, Illinois.  This competition is designed as a fun way to provide hands-on engineering experience to students around the world.  Diedrichs employee and ASAE member Jill Huenink served as part of the 2004 judging committee and, during her undergraduate career, participated on the University of Wisconsin-Madison team.  ASAE member Ginger L'Heureux also represented Diedrichs at this year's competition.  During college, L'Heureux was active on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln team.  Congratulations to this year's University of Nebraska-Lincoln team for their 4th place finish overall!  See our 1/4 Scale Tractor Competition page for official results, pictures, and more information about the competition.

We hosted an exhibit at the 19th Annual AMC at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The conference theme focused on "Engineering for a Global Business" and was sponsored by the ASAE Iowa & Quad City Sections and SAE Mississippi Valley Section.  This gave us a chance to learn about new trends in the machinery industry, meet prospective clients and catch up with friends.  On Wednesday, May 5, Robert Diedrichs gave a presentation entitled "Problem Solving: Beyond Mechanics and Strength of Materials."  This was part of the afternoon technical session about "The Business of Engineering."

January 25, 2004 - Employee Dennis Craun in the News

"Turbines could mean savings for county" - Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier (.pdf file)    Diedrichs employee Dennis Craun is leading a student project to design wind and hydroelectric turbines for the Blackhawk County Conservation Board.  Prior to working at Diedrichs, Dennis served in the Marine Corp and worked in product design for Hobson Mould Works and Top Air Manufacturing.  For the past two years, he has continued part-time work at Diedrichs while attending classes at the University of Northern Iowa.  He will graduate from UNI in May 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Technology.  When not engineering and studying, he loves to spend time with his wife Pam of eight years, daughter Kayla, and son Daniel.

October 24, 2002 Open House

In November 2001, our shop moved to a new and much larger location within the original building.  The address has not changed.  Over the past year, we have done extensive remodeling. Now, we'd like to show the facility to our clients, suppliers, business associates, friends and others we've met and would like to know better.

October 2002 - Shop Open House

The open house was held on October 24, 2002 to show our renovated shop facility to our clients, suppliers, business associates, friends, and others we have met.  We arranged to borrow equipment that represented old projects we have worked on.  Several employees also showcased their hobby projects.

May 1, 2002 20 Year Anniversary

Diedrichs & Associates, Inc. celebrated its 20 year anniversary on May 1, 2002. The company provides technical services to commercial and industrial clients. In the early years, most projects were technical investigations related to design, marketing and safety.

Since 1993, most of the effort has been in support of product and machine design projects. Some examples can be seen in our brochure. Other examples will be illustrated on the web page periodically.

November 2001 - Shop Remodel

In November 2001, our shop moved to a new and much larger location.  Extensive remodeling took place from December 2001 through October 2002.  The floor was cleaned and painted with epoxy for ease of cleaning.  The walls were painted to improve lighting, and new insulation was installed.  A new, air-conditioned office with computer and internet connections provides an area for engineers, designers, and clients as they work on shop projects.
