This enginedriven industrial snow blower, rated at 800 tons of snow per hour, mounts on a truck or end loader.

This client, a manufacturer of large industrial snow removal machines, needed a new model in order to expand an existing product line.

While the current products rated at 1400 tons/hour were appropriate for snow removal at airports or other large areas, a smaller-scale product was desired to target the needs of smaller applications like municipalities.

The design phase took place over a five month period, and the final prototype was tested two months later. For testing in July, the snow blower was mounted on a wheel loader and driven down a boat ramp. Water provides a good means for loading the sytem.

Design Process:

  • Design the product
  • Analyze cost performance alternative
  • Build and test prototype

Machine Design Objective :

  • A new machine rated at 800 tons/hour
  • Utilizes standard off-the-shelf components–engines, pumps, gear boxes, etc– to reduce cost
  • For use with CAT, John Deere, or Cummins engines
  • Appearance and operation controls to be similar to existing product line
  • Mount to truck or wheel loader
  • Directs snow flow out of spout or to either side (see pictures)

The Snowgo line, owned by Wausau-Everest, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. The snowblower is one of the only items on the register that is mobile. Click here to visit the Wausau-Everest website for more details.
